Moving Advice from a Traveling Nurse

Growing up, my two main passions were helping others and traveling. These passions made choosing my dream career easy, and I am now a traveling nurse and love it. If there is anything I have mastered outside of the field of healthcare it is making quick moves around the country! There was a huge learning curve to it, because before I began traveling for work, I lived in the same house for my entire life. To help other people who move frequently for work purposes or who are just relocating for the first time in many years, I thought I would create a blog to share my moving tips. I plan to create new posts here and there during my downtime, and I hope I can help you master your next move with ease and without a lot of stress!

How To Ensure That The Movers You Hire Will Meet All Your Specific Needs

by Tom Evans

Now that you've made the decision to relocate to a new home, it's time to start shopping for a moving company to work with. Here are a few things you can do to help ensure that the service provider you decide to hire can meet all your specific moving needs:

Schedule In-Home Consultations

Consider scheduling an initial in-home consultation with each prospective company you consider working with so they can check your space out, inventory your belongings, and provide you with an accurate quote that can be used for effective comparisons. These consultations will also give you an opportunity to explain how you want your belongings handled, packed and moved so the service providers can determine whether they will be able to meet all your specific needs and preferences from beginning to end. And you can get to know the moving crew and their work styles before deciding whether you want to use their services.

Create an In-Depth Itinerary

One of the things you should to do before hiring a moving company is create an in-depth itinerary for your moving tasks so you can give a copy of it to prospective service providers during your consultations so they can verify whether they'll be available during the specific days and times you'd like them to work for you. You may find that some of the companies you consider hiring have scheduling conflicts and will put you behind or make scheduling other services difficult. Ask each prospective moving company you consult with to provide you with a schedule guarantee in writing before deciding who to ultimately hire.

Get Guarantees in Writing

In addition to scheduling guarantees, it's a good idea to make sure that any moving company you decide to hire is willing to provide you with labor and damage guarantees in writing. The service provider you decide to work with should take responsibility for any of your belongings that are damaged when being loaded on the truck, during transportation, or while being unpacked. They should also offer some insurance options that you can purchase for optimal protection of your stuff. Find out what the policies and insurance options are for each moving company you consider doing business with so you can determine which one will most likely provide you with the best overall protection.

With the use of these tips and tricks, you should have no problem finding a moving company to work with the satisfies all your particular needs and expectations.
